Angels in America

ROY: The worst thing about being sick in America, Ethel, is you are booted out of the parade. Americans have no use for sick. Look at Reagan: He's so healthy he's hardly human [...]
That's America. It's no country for the infirm.
Tony Kushner, Angels in America Part II : Perestroika

In Angels in America, Kushner provides a commentary on the pestilence of our times, AIDS, intermingling allusions to politics, ethics, religions, races and power that have shaped the American identity since the time of the Puritans to the end of the 20th century.
On the other hand, Brokeback Mountain, that again tackles the issue of homosexuality, has no intention of criticizing or challenging anything but rather offers a rather melodramatic love story. I admit I liked part of it (not only because Jake Gyllenhaal stars in it) but at the end of the day what remains? The sheep in the prairie maybe?

PRIOR: I usually say, 'Fuck the truth', but mostly the truth fucks you.
Kushner, Angels in America Part I: Millenium Approaches

(Angels in America became a 6-hour mini-TV series in 2003 for HBO, directed by Mike Nichols starring Al Pacino, Meryl Streep, Emma Thompson, Jeffrey Wright and others).

I know why should she anyway?I believe that the glorious days of the pumpkins are bygones and no matter what Corgan does it will never be the same. For me their swan song/final act of their career was Adore, not even Machina.(snif, snif!)
