Michael Winterbottom narrates the terrifying and lurid story of four British Muslims who visited Pakistan in October 2001 and after crossing the border with Afghanistan were captured and sent to the infamous Guantanamo Bay detention center in Cuba, where they have been tortured for 2 years before they got released without any charges. The largest part of the film is a reconstruction of the events enhanced by the interviews of the actual victims. I will not assert that it is flawless, however, it is strong stuff and a must-see documentary.
The Road to Guantanamo premiered in Berlin Festival and was shown yesterday on Channel 4 before being released today on dvd and in theatres. Distribution in the US has not been secured yet. http://channel4.com/guantanamo
