Mythologies II

Here is my dilemma: I always try to avoid categorising/stereotyping and putting things in boxes without really succeeding however... Anyhow, I continue my previous exploration on the mythological nature of the dream and after the precious inputs from my blog friends I am adding more films/series to my immense list. Some of these also deconstruct the binary illusion/reality blurring the two in a Lynchean way (Donnie Darko can also fit into this category).

Citizen Kane by Orson Welles (1948)

Dogville by Lars Von Trier (2003)

Happiness by Todd Solonz (1998)

The Deer Hunter by Michael Cimino (1978)

Six Feet Under HBO series (2000-2005)

Abre los Ojos by Alejandro Amenabar (1997)

Great! let me know what you think!

As for the film you just mentioned, havent heard of it but the same happened to me the last days with 24 that everybody is obsessed with! What am I missing? ;)

dunno, it first started in sept 2001 when we had just arrived in DE. never watched it and i especially never will since i heard back in the Springtime that the preznit wanted his image to be like Jack Bauer's (the Kiefer S character dude). Commander Stuffed Codpiece: 'more testosterone!'

i also don't watch those other 'hit' imports like CSI or 'friends' (excuse me while i puke over here), like that.

having nothing to do w/films, you might be interested in this: '...Hunter would fax with incandescent enthusiasm, let's do the Democratic Convention, the America's Cup, the Hawaiian marathon, the Watergate hearings, Disneyland, let's find ourselves a lynching, let's take ourselves to wherever in God's own country we can be sure to find grotesque evidence of the wretched excesses of a self-congratulating, capitalist democracy hell-bent on the pursuit of happiness. "It'll be fun." from yesterday's Independent.
