This small in stature man who used to drink a lot, infamous for his brothel posters and his paintings of prostitutes. An insightful documentary that scratches the surface of Henri Toulouse Lautrec to uncover what lies beneath his craft and his short life. How he left his aristocratic past to root his life in Montmartre. Stories of his acquaintance with the poet/artist Aristide Bruant, and with models that posed for painters like Suzanne Valodon and with Moulin Rouge dancers such as the gluttonous Goulue, the attractive Jane Avril, the childish and not very successful May Belfort; small narratives that are illustrated in his paintings and posters. An exquisite artist that dies of alcoholism at the age of 36. Toulouse Lautrec is one example of how popular culrture can be transformed into Art.
