Dear God (whoever and wherever you might be),

I turn to you because I know that you are supposed to do miracles. Please give me a sign that for the next 6 months I am not going to fill out another form.....Please?

Yours

Solution: National ID cards

I know that it gives most people bad vibes because they belive they are giving up their privacy.

But you can't loose something you don't have. Most citizens in the UK are spreading their personal details everywhere. Hospital records, School records, Dentist records, Banks, Credit cards, Library member cards, Company records, Bank records, Phone records, Gas-, eletricity company records, Gym card, TV license, Insurances, Letting agencies, Other Member cards... I can go on and on.

Our personal details are everywhere and very easy to find. The only people who would loose on having national ID cards are the ones that lives outside "normal" society. The ones that never went to school, don't have a job, don't vote, don't have a bank account, don't have a telephone, don't have TV and have never been to a hospital or a dentist. (I wonder who many they are?)

With a national ID card you are given an unique number. Everytime you apply for something that needs your personal details, you give them the number and that's it.

OK... sometimes you might have to fill in a couple of extra questions but in the end it would reduce the number of forms you fill in.

A real life example. It takes about 10 minutes to open a bank account in Sweden. You show them your national ID and then it's done. Compare that to 4 weeks in the UK!
